The Knox County Clerk of Courts is seeking a full-time Deputy Clerk in the Legal Division. The candidate must be able to multi-task; type and copy records without error; maintain a high level of confidentiality; work in a fast-paced environment; able to deal with the public effectively; and be able to work independently. Candidates must work 35hours weekly; must pass a physical exam and an extensive criminal background check; have an acceptable driving record; and a good work history.

Job Description
Title: Deputy Clerk, Knox County Clerk of Courts Office – Legal Division
Classified; hourly; Non-exempt
Immediate Supervisor: Clerk of Courts
Normal Working Hours: 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday
Position Summary:
The Legal Division of the Clerk of Courts Office provides support to the Court of Common Pleas and the 5th District Court of Appeals of Ohio. Employees are responsible for handling of court documents, including receiving the initial filings of complaints; docketing subsequent filings and motions; the issuance of service on filings; processing criminal and civil bonds; filing and renewing certificates of notaries; the recording of all judgments; criminal disposition reporting; managing unclaimed funds; and the distribution of fees and fines to state and local authorities.
The Office is also responsible for maintaining and providing public access to the permanent records of the Court.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record or reliable daily transportation
- Ability to pass a physical examination and an extensive criminal background check
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures
- Basic office skills, including the operation of typical office equipment
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
