Our Employment Services Specialists are industry expert professionals who are available to come to your classroom and present employment readiness topics to your students. We have curriculum on hand to teach your students about a variety of topics including but not limited to:

OhioMeansJobs Knox County can help your students earn the OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal. The OMJ Readiness Seal is one of the twelve seals available for high school students to achieve to certifiy readiness to enter the workforce upon high school completion. OMJ Knox staff can certify students who have demonstrated any (or several) of the 15 professional skills needed to achieve this readiness seal. We are offering this service in 9-week cohorts (twice a week for one hour) with a new cohort beginning every 9 weeks throughout the school year as well as a summer cohort. Curriculum includes instruction, hands-on activities/assignments, workbook activities, a team project, and team presentation at the conclusion. Are you seeking a Career Guidance expert to work with your group? Let us help! We have cusomizable curriclum related to any employment and job readiness topic. Topics range from code of conduct, to respect in the workplace, to preparing for the interview and landing the job, and all things in between. We can provide one workshop or a series of workshops. We will work with you to customize a program that fits your needs.

If you or someone you know is in active recovery and ready to enter or re-enter the workforce, we are here to help. Our Outreach Employment Services Specialist provides job readiness and job search workshops within the local recovery community. We have staff who serve on the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team as well as on the Knox County Common Pleas Armor Court treatment team, and the Mount Vernon Municipal Merit Court treatment team. We can provide workshops in a group setting or one-on-one career services. Our currciulm is designed to address the specific challenges faced by job seekers recovering from substance use and those involved with the justice system. Our staff is trained to assist justice involved individuals to navigate the process in applying for a Certification of Qualification for Employment (CQE). We can provide resources to obtain Federal Bonds for employment as well as information related to sealing a criminal record and other resources.

Our job center has added state-of-the-art virtual reality career exploration equipment. We have an on-site VR lab at our job center and we have VR equipment available for demonstration and loan to local education and employer partners. Our software hosts 200+ occupations and has built in competencies to assist job seekers in career exploration and hands-on job skills practice. Our Employment Services staff is available to visit your organization and provide a demonstration.
