Prosecutor

Civil Representation

The Prosecutor’s Office is critical to county government because the prosecutor is the legal advisor to Knox County government agencies and officeholders. Specifically, the Prosecutor’s Office represents all county agencies, county elected officials, library districts, and townships.

The Prosecutor’s civil responsibilities include the rendering of opinions and the review and approval as to form of all contracts.

Of major significance, the Knox County Prosecutor is the legal advisor to the Knox County Commissioners. We help the Commissioners negotiate with local authorities on the construction of important public improvement projects.

Also of major significance, the Knox County Prosecutor is responsible for representing all of the township officials in Knox County. Township trustees are the grassroots governmental unit in Ohio and, as such, citizens often contact township trustees on a variety of issues. We make every effort to give the township trustees, fiscal officers and zoning officials timely, well-researched legal opinions on all the issues affecting township government.
