Patrol Division

The Patrol / Enforcement Division is responsible for providing law enforcement services to the residents of Knox County. Their duties include, but are not limited to, responding to criminal complaints, traffic enforcement, serving court issued summons, subpoenas, and warrants.
The Villages of Centerburg and Gambier have contractual agreements with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. Two officers are assigned to Centerburg and one officer is assigned to Gambier.

Detective Division

The Detective Division is responsible for the investigation of major crimes in Knox County, including: homicides, robberies, burglaries, arsons, drug offenses, child abuse, sex offenses, unnatural deaths and document cases.
Detectives provide support to the uniform divisions in the areas of crime scene processing, evidence collection, interviewing and case follow-up. The detectives maintain the property room and are responsible for submitting evidence to various laboratories for examination and interpretation.

Jail Division

Confidential Crime Tip Line

Citizens are encouraged to use the confidential tip line to leave information on suspected criminal activity, including drug activity, burglaries, wanted persons, child and elder abuse, and welfare fraud.
