Soil & Water Conservation District

2023 Cover Crop Program

The Knox Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to announce that the MWCD Cover Crop Program has been renewed for 2023. Click the button below to find a copy of the Knox SWCD application form for the 2023 program. Please fill out the application completely.

Eligible soil tests for application fields can now be from 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023. (still maximum of 25 acres represented per test)

  • Again for 2023 – copies of current soil tests must be provided to the SWCD in order to be eligible. These tests must be 4 years old or less (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023). The Knox SWCD’s interpretation of Ohio Law is that a producer’s nutrient management planning data is specifically protected from public release, we will not be releasing soil test results due to public records requests if received.
  • Fertilizer application records get you points! We don’t care how you keep them, it can be on a napkin, just so you can show them to us.
  • Please read the application form carefully. If you have any questions feel free to contact us at the SWCD office at the above listed number. Applications will be SCORED EXACTLY AS YOU SUBMIT THEM.

  • Knox County signup deadline remains June 17th.

Please, please, please – Cross reference your soil test names/numbers with the FSA numbers so we can sort them out. If we can’t tell that the “old hilltop field” is Tract-007 Field 3 then that field won’t be eligible.

Knox County farmers have consistently had some of the highest application submittal acres and completion percentages for this program in the entire MWCD watershed. Keep up the good work!

For further program details, or to sign up for the program contact Rob Clendening at the SWCD office at 740-393-6724.
