At OhioMeansJobs Knox County, job seekers/workers ages 16-24 are considered youth and/or young adults. We collaborate with workforce partners and business leaders throughout the community to assist employers in connecting with the youth and young adult workforce.
The Non-Traditional Workforce Committee of the Workforce Development Alliance through collaboration with OhioMeansJobs Knox County has gathered the information below to provide you with information about tapping into this pool of talent.
The Workforce Development Alliance pioneered a position of High School Career Navigator. The Career Navigator works with high school seniors at the four outlying county high schools (Centerburg, Fredericktown, East Knox, and Danville). The Career Navigator helps students who do not have a plan to enter post-secondary education, enlist in the military, and do not have a solid employment plan indentify a career tract that interests them and connects them to local employment opportunities.
High school students may be able to accept employment during the school year. Possible work hours for these students are 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm. These students may have wider availability during summer months and other school breaks.
Things to consider:
For more information about connecting with these high school students, contact Career Navigator, Sean McCutcheon at 740-504-1223 or [email protected].

OhioMeansJobs Knox County covers 100% of the cost of wages and other employment expenses. We also provide supportive services such as transportation and needed work supplies. As part of the youth paid work experience program, students are paired with an experienced Employment Services Specialist and receive additional soft skills, job readiness, and job related training.
